Wilderness preservation group Friends of the Boundary Waters says they ran out of options and chose not to continue a case that would have challenged the massive tower that is now visible from within the wilderness area.

AT&T has completed construction of a controversial new, 450-foot tall communications tower near the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area.

Sen. Franken proposes ban on stalking apps

“Stalking by smartphone. It’s a growing problem, and a Minnesota lawmaker wants to stop it.

“U.S. Senator Al Franken told the Judiciary Committee in Washington that GPS technology is being used for sinister means by companies that create phone apps to stalk people,” via (WCCO).

Looking to get lost in the Twin Cities? There’s an app for that.

Star Tribune reporter Colleen Kelly found that getting lost could be easy when using the new Apple Maps on the iPhone 5.

“A search for the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis on Apple Maps sends people to the old Guthrie Theater near Walker Art Center and Loring Park, not to its location near the Mississippi River. The Guthrie moved in 2006. The current location of the Guthrie does show up, but searches send you to the previous location.”

She details other glaring problems, many deal with outdated addresses. Apple Maps relies on the same technology as Tom Tom directions and will adapt after users report wrong directions.
