A deaf man who accused St. Paul police officers of beating him because he requested that an officer communicate with him in writing is scheduled to settle a federal lawsuit with the city for $93,450.

Accidental text ends in pot bust

“A Minneapolis woman was arrested after mistakenly text-messaging a cop that she had marijuana to sell, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in Hennepin County District Court.

On Thursday, an investigator with the Minneapolis Police Department had received a random text message that said, "Got your greens, let me know what you need." Knowing that "greens" is a common slang term for marijuana, the investigator texted back that he wanted to buy $100 worth.

“A Minneapolis City Council committee voted 3 to 1 Wednesday to approve a plan to overhaul a citizens board that investigates police misconduct, an issue that one council member said causes "nightmares" and another said was so difficult that she abstained.”
