Bachmann becomes butt of Obama joke

President Obama addressed the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday and contiued the tradition of self deprecating jokes mixed with a few jabs at his ideological opponents.

Obama joked that he is taking a “charm offensive” on the road to a BBQ with Ted Cruz in Texas, Kentucky bluegrass festival with Rand Paul “and a book burning with Michele Bachmann.”

Staff role in Bachmann book tour raises new questions

Rep. Bachmann’s failed presidential campaign getting new attention in Washington.

Congressional ethics investigators are examining whether top staffers in Rep. Michele Bachmann’s presidential campaign played an improper role in the 2011 tour to promote her personal memoir, two former Bachmann aides have told the Star Tribune.

St Cloud Times: Bachmann vote is appalling

St. Cloud Times takes issue with Rep. Michele Bachmann’s “no” vote on the Violence Against Women Act.

Bachmann, lone among all Minnesota representatives, voted against the Violence Against Women Act, legislation that would continue funding for programs and shelters aiding women leaving abusive relationships.Bachmann’s rationale, according to her spokesman Dan Kotman, was that she favored the “stronger House version” of the bill.The “stronger” version to which he refers is the one that left out protection for lesbians, transgendered women, immigrants and Native American women.

Minnesota delegation splits on Fiscal Cliff compromise

Reps. Peterson and Kline cross party lines on Fiscal Cliff vote.

A climactic showdown in the House on Tuesday night divided the Minnesota House delegation evenly, with centrist DFLer Collin Peterson joining Republicans Michele Bachmann, Chip Cravaack and Erik Paulsen in casting dissenting votes.

On the other side, Republican John Kline joined Democrats Keith Ellison, Betty McCollum and Tim Walz in voting yes on the bill, which was approved in a bipartisan 257 to 167 vote.

Michele Bachmann pinches out win over Jim Graves in 6th District

The AP is calling Rep. Michele Bachmann the winner of the 6th Congressional District.

Bachmann outspent her opponent Jim Graves by 12-1. Her narrow win comes after a failed presidential bid. and a redistricting that included more conservative voters than it did in 2010.

Poll: Bachmann has handsome edge thanks to men

A new poll shows of voters in Minnesota’s 6th congressional district shows incumbent Republican congresswoman Michele Bachmann with a lead over her DFL challenger Jim Graves “50% to 41%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KSTP.”

“Bachmann’s lead comes entirely from men. Graves leads by 1 point among women. Bachmann leads by 18 points among men,” reports KSTP.

Note: the poll has a margin of error of 4.1%.
