Cliffs, Steelworkers reach tentative accord

Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. and the United Steelworkers Union have reached a tentative accord on a new three-year labor contract, Cliffs said Wednesday.

“If approved by union members, the agreement will cover approximately 2,400 workers at Cliffs’ United Taconite mine in Virginia and its Hibbing Taconite mine in Hibbing and at the Empire and Tilden mines in Upper Michigan. Northshore Mining Co. in Silver Bay, also owned by Cliffs, is not unionized,” reports Business North.
