St. Cloud Times takes issue with Rep. Michele Bachmann’s “no” vote on the Violence Against Women Act.
Bachmann, lone among all Minnesota representatives, voted against the Violence Against Women Act, legislation that would continue funding for programs and shelters aiding women leaving abusive relationships.Bachmann’s rationale, according to her spokesman Dan Kotman, was that she favored the “stronger House version” of the bill. The “stronger” version to which he refers is the one that left out protection for lesbians, transgendered women, immigrants and Native American women.
