Minnesota’s long winters and lack of mountains tends to produce more snowboarders with finely honed technical skills gained from terrain parks and other non-traditional places, like parking garage walls. Snowboarder Dan Brisse of Richmond, Minn., is a fine example of a technically gifted boarder. He is trying to advance in the Winter X Games.
Brisse is currently competing for a $10,000 prize determined by online votes.
If Brisse wins, he said he’ll donate the entire amount to the memorial fund that benefits the family of slain Cold Spring-Richmond police officer Tom Decker, who died in November.
