Psy brings Gangnam Style to St. Paul

“Tonight’s ‘Jingle Ball’ at the Xcel Energy Center brings together some of the hottest acts in the pop music scene, including the South Korean phenomenon Psy(his real name is Park Jae-sang).

“Psy is the man behind ‘Gangnam Style,’ a video that has gone viral over its funny dance moves, catchy tune and campy humor. The video is a send-up of the posh Gangnam neighborhood in Seoul,” via State of the Arts.

Suspect released in Cold Spring officer shooting case

“Hours before Tom Decker’s family and community gathered at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, Minn., for the slain police officer’s visitation, the man arrested on suspicion of killing him walked out of jail,” via Pioneer Press.

Houston Co. frac sand mine denied request to operate

“A Houston County frac sand mine won’t be allowed to operate during the county’s moratorium, a judge has ruled.

“Wabasha County  Judge Terrence Walters ruled late last week not to lift a stop work order issued by Houston County for the mine, known as the Erickson Quarry and located a few miles southeast of Rushford,” via Winona Daily News.

St. Paul: More families could join bias suit against schools

“More families might join a racial discrimination lawsuit against the St. Paul school district, the Heights Community School principal and a former teacher, an attorney for the plaintiffs said.

“The families of three former Heights students filed the suit last spring. They allege that Timothy Olmsted, who taught sixth grade at the East Side school, discriminated against black students and that supervisors did not act on complaints. The defendants have denied the allegations and moved the suit to federal court over the summer,” via Pioneer Press.

Green brewer Bang Brewing Co. to open in St Paul

Green beer isn’t just for St Patrick’s Day anymore and it doesn’t have anything to do with food coloring.

“Sandy and Jay Boss Febbo are bringing a new meaning to the word ‘microbrew.’

“Their 1,300-square-foot brew house at 2320 Capp Road is ‘small by design,’ said Sandy Boss Febbo. ‘We are a super-small building with a small footprint,’” via Twin Cities Daily Planet.
